Peeling paint near a shower means moisture, not old paint

When paint bubbles or peels around a tub or shower, water got behind it. Fresh paint alone will not fix that. The wall has to dry and the source of the moisture has to stop first. Look for soft spots and dark rings too, because those point to a leak. Painting over a leak just hides it for a few weeks. Our interior work across Austin starts by finding the real cause before a brush touches the wall.

Flat paint hides dents but wipes clean poorly

Sheen decides how a room holds up. Flat and matte hide wall bumps and roller marks, so they suit bedrooms and ceilings. They also mark easily and do not scrub well. Satin and eggshell wipe clean, which is why they fit hallways and kids' rooms. Semi-gloss goes on trim, doors, and bathrooms because it sheds water and fingerprints. Picking the wrong sheen is the most common regret we hear.

Most interior jobs fail at the prep, not the paint

A smooth finish comes from what happens before the color. Nail holes get filled. Cracks get taped. Glossy trim gets sanded so the new coat can grip. Gaps at the baseboard get caulked. Skip these and the paint peels, drips, or shows every flaw under the light. Going from a dark wall to a light one almost always needs primer plus two coats, or the old color ghosts through.
